Relationships and Priorities

Physical relationships and priorities are important, but spiritual relationships and priorities are even more important and valued by the Lord.

"46 While He [Jesus] was still talking to the multitudes, behold, His mother and brothers stood outside, seeking to speak with Him. 47 Then one said to Him, 'Look, Your mother and Your brothers are standing outside, seeking to speak with You.'

48 But He answered and said to the one who told Him, 'Who is My mother and who are My brothers?' 49 And He stretched out His hand toward His disciples and said, 'Here are My mother and My brothers! 50 For whoever does the will of My Father in heaven is My brother and sister and mother.'" Matthew 12:46-50

Jesus calls those who do God's will his brother, sister, mother. It shows the special recognition and relationship to Christ of those who have the right spiritual priorities.

"27 And it happened, as He [Jesus] spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, 'Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!'

28 But He said, 'More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!'" Luke 11:27-28

Only one woman could have gotten that role to be the earthly mother of Jesus, and no matter how "blessed" she would be, Jesus said "more than that" one is blessed who hears and keeps God's word. This blessing is available to everyone.
