The "Armor of God" is about character

Therefore, put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and, having done all, to stand.  WEB Ephesians 6:13-14

The armor in Ephesians 6 is, I tend to think, for defense and about mostly moral character or having a firm grasp on divine truth.

The belt of truth could be just as much the character of honesty as it could be objective truth such as God’s way of justification. It is said that the belt kept the other pieces of armor in place. Would honesty work in that way? “Therefore, putting away lying, “Let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor,” for we are members of one another.” Eph4.25

“This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, having faith and a good conscience, which some having rejected, concerning the faith have suffered shipwreck.” 1Tim1.18-19

A good conscience is about honesty.

“Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth.” Eph6.14.

The breastplate protects the vital organs especially the heart. This could be about moral character because if your heart condemns you, satan will use it against you. Again consider 1Tim1.19 concerning good warfare and having faith and a good conscience.

“Therefore I desire that the younger widows marry, bear children, manage the house, give no opportunity to the adversary to speak reproachfully.” 1Tim5.14
