There is a "knowing" concerning God that is by keeping his commandments. This is not the kind of knowing that speaks of salvation and is relational, but it is the kind of knowing that is getting to know what God requires. It's like where Peter instructed husbands to dwell with their wives according to understanding (knowledge). It's not relational in that you know she is your wife, but it's getting to know her: "Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding [Greek: "gnosis," meaning "knowledge"], giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel..." 1 Peter 3:7
